For my contribution, here are a few highlights of the 1975-77 experience&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Persian classes: Holly and I took two years of Persian together and sat next to each other all 4 semesters. We sat at the end of a long rectangular table, almost holding court ! (we had names for everybody)<\/p>\n<p>We would meet twice a week to do our Persian homework (painfully\u00a0translating Sa&#8217;adi&#8217;s Golestan from the original text) at the Gray St apartment\u00a0\u2026\u00a0now;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>we each wore hats, she a pith helmet and I a monkey\u00a0organ\u00a0grinder&#8217;s hat<\/li>\n<li>we would have coffee and Marlboro breaks and break out into a chorus of &#8220;Daddy Please\u00a0Don&#8217;t\u00a0\u2026 &#8221; or\u00a0\u2026\u00a0&#8221; I hate Persian &#8230; &#8220;<\/li>\n<li>once\u00a0our friend Jeri dropped by and her portfolio of revealing\u00a0self\u00a0pictures\u00a0mingled\u00a0with\u00a0Persian texts<\/li>\n<li>we would\u00a0finish (5 hours later) with biscuits and alouette cheese watching I Love Lucy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u00a0being said, we took the class and\u00a0homework very\u00a0seriously\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Classics: Holly and I both had an\u00a0interest in the Greek classics (and even more so with Greg) so\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>when she was very pregnant with Laszlo, we concocted\u00a0to stage this dialogue in the\u00a0Harvard lift\u00a0where I would bring up\u00a0Euripides\u00a0and\u00a0Aeschylus and Holly would respond &#8220;yes, I&#8217;m reading them\u00a0as well, particularly\u00a0for the characters of Medea and\u00a0Clytemnestra &#8211; I want to\u00a0pick up some useful child rearing tips&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>there was utter silence in the lift\u00a0\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Highlights from 1975 to 1977 The Hollyfest is such a great idea, and I can see Holly totally basking in the limelight.
