Although this is not in our sources, I think it’s quite possible that Alcibiades knew the Segesta envoys from his frequent visits to Sicily and that he arranged for their current visit. Once the envoys arrived, he surely would have coached them on just what to say. Nobody knew better than Alcibiades how to sway the demos.
