This map lets us see Segesta and the Elymian territory in relation to the Greek and Phoenician settlements which take root in Sicily starting in the 8th century. The Greek settlement closest to Elymian Segesta is Selinus on the southern coast of the island, but by far the most prosperous and militarily powerful Greek community was Syracuse in the southern corner of the triangle that is Sicily..
